Match number: 1550Weysiders escaped from a game of ebb and flow with three points, but with Lightwater cursing their luck as it was a last-minute goal that finally secured the points. The visitors started the better and put early pressure on the home goal without actually creating a worthwhile chance. After eleven minutes Mark Robertson had two attempts blocked and saved before Matt Hockin rifled the ball home to open the scoring. Weysiders then began to take charge and should really have scored more before Matt Hockin did double the advantage just before half-time. Tim Buzaglo (fifth goalkeeper of the season) threw the ball out to Angelo De Piano whose through ball was chased by Hockin who rounded the keeper and slotted home.
The first minutes of the second half began the same way as the first had ended, with Weysiders firmly on top. Chances came and went and the feeling grew that the home side might live to regret these misses. So it was as after fifty-nine minutes a clumsy ball in midfield suddenly left a Lightwarer striker clear down the middle and he rounded Buzaglo, who slipped, to make it 2-1. Incredibly less than a minute later a dreadful ball by Harley Williams created an almost exact replay but this time the forward's shot cleared the bar. Despite that let-off Weysiders's confidence had gone and after seventy-four minutes Lightwater equalised from another run-through.
Lightwater now looked the more likely and despite three substitutions to replace tired legs Weysiders could no longer get a grip on the game - until the last minute, when Kevin Barrow - who had an excellent game - made progress down the right and bided his time before finding Andy Horner who created some space and scored with a left-footer into the right hand corner to win the points. |
