28.05.23: Weysiders Golf Day 2023

The Seventh Weysiders Golf Day was held on 27 May 2023 at Clandon Golf Club. Winner was Joe Robinson.

25.05.23: 2023 AGM

The AGM was held on Wednesday 24 April at The Astolat Pub, Guildford. The following key decisions were made:

• The new committee will be:
• Tony Ney – Chairman
• Russ Minns – Secretary
• James Pierrepont – Treasurer
• Chris Murch - Social Secretary
• Match Fees for 2023-24 will be £10 for all squad members.
• The Signing-on fee for 2023-24 will be £50 for new players, for which they will receive shorts and socks.

12.05.23: Notice of AGM

The Weysiders FC AGM will be held on Wednesday 24 May 2023 at The Astolat pub, starting at 7.30pm. All players and members are welcome.

03.05.23: Reserve Team Manager Russ Minns sums up the season:

The season for the reserves has been a difficult one. Although we started well with a good win against local rivals Shalford U23s, the club’s difficulty to raise enough players for two teams started. Week after week, the struggle would continue which ultimately meant conceding the majority of our games.
On the pitch, we weren’t far off in most games, showing great desire to compete, in particular from a small group of guys new to the club. Sadly, we lacked the depth in the match squad and faltered in the closing stages of games.
Our 5-4 win against University of Surrey A team is the stand-out highlight of the season, coming back from 4-1 down with 15 minutes left on the clock and finishing with a conventional back two.
Big thanks go to the players who made themselves constantly available and supported the first team at every opportunity.

18.02.23: Angelo De Piano RIP

It is with much sadness that we have learned of the death of former Weysider Angelo De Piano. Angelo was a great servant to the club, mainly in the 1990s. He made his debut on 17.09.1888 and played 169 games, scoring 7 goals. Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.

08.02.23: Bench Bar Rovers

Bench Bar Rovers have withdrawn from GWAFL Division 3. They had not played a game since October, and now all their results have been expunged. This affects our Reserves who drew 2-2 with Bench Bar Rovers in September. We lose the point we gained in that game. The League Table has been updated accordingly and Weysiders Reserves now have six league games to play.

10.07.22: Six-a-side quarter finalists

Weysiders reached the quarter-finals of the Guildford City charity six-a-side tournament on Saturday 9 July at Stoughton Rec.

With the games only seven minutes long, Weysiders' first four group games all ended 0-0. The final game ended in a 2-0 win meaning qualification for the quarter-finals.

Here the lads lost 2-1 but acquitted themselves well on a hot day.

Weysiders have entered a team into the Guildford City FC six-a-side tournament on Saturday 9 July at Stoughton Rec, Guildford. It starts at 1pm. Come along and support the lads.
